Thermanit MTS 616 is a low-alloyed, creep resistant solid wire. It suits welding CrMo steels on boilers, steam lines, refinery plant and parts working at elevated temperature.
Parent materials are 1.4901 and ASTM A213. The deposit stands up to creep at elevated temperature, and the wire works in power generation, on superheaters, headers and pressure piping.
- Classification EN ISO: 21952-A G Z CrMoWVNb 9 0.5 1.5
- AWS classification: A5.28 / SFA-5.28 ER90S-B92
- Shielding gas: M12, M13
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
Watch the hydrogen level, dry consumables and a preheated groove are the basic protection against cold cracking. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
