What Union AlCu 6 Mn solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Union AlCu 6 Mn is a solid MIG/MAG welding wire. It suits welding aluminium and its alloys and goes into transport, the food industry and structures built to resist atmospheric corrosion.

Typical parent materials are EN AW-2219, AlCu6Mn, EN AW-2014, EN AW-2036, AlCu2, AlSi6Cu4 and AlSi5Cu3. The wire runs by hand with a semiautomatic torch and on mechanised stations, fed continuously under shielding gas.

Push the torch and keep the wire path in the feeder short and straight, aluminium coils up easily in the liner. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback.
