Union I Ni 1 MoCr is a low-alloy, high strength TIG rod. It is used in machine building, crane structures and commercial vehicles.
The rod joins materials such as S500Q, S550Q, P500QL and P550QL. You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld.
- Classification EN ISO: 16834-A 55 6 ZMn3Ni 0.9 MoCr
- AWS classification: A5.28 / SFA-5.28 ER100S-G
- Shielding gas: I1
- Diameters: 0.9 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 2.4 mm
Keep the heat input within the range the steel maker specifies, going above it lowers the strength of the joint. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Match the diameter to the plate thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
