Union K 52 is a solid MIG/MAG electrode wire. It suits welding mild and low-alloy steels on welded structures, halls, frames, machine parts and repairs of structural steel.
It is used on grades such as P235GH, P265GH, S420N and ASTM A27. The wire does well on pipe welding, fill passes included, and it goes into shipbuilding and vessel repair.
- Classification EN ISO: G 42 2 C1 3Si1 / G 46 4 M21 3Si1
- AWS classification: ER70S-6
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm
Match the voltage to the wire feed speed, too low a setting gives a convex face and no fusion into the edges. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
