Union Ni 2,5 is a solid MIG/MAG wire for low-temperature nickel steels. It is used on liquefied gas tanks, cryogenic plant and refrigeration equipment.
It is used on grades such as X12Ni5, S275NL2, S500QL1 and ASTM A633. The deposit keeps its toughness in the cryogenic range, so the wire goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases, fed continuously under shielding gas.

Run narrow beads without wide weaving, so the weld keeps its fine grained structure. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Keep the heat input and the interpass temperature down, toughness at low temperature falls as soon as the joint is overheated.
