BÖHLER ASN 5-IG (Si) is a solid MIG/MAG wire for low-temperature nickel steels. It is used on liquefied gas tanks, cryogenic plant and refrigeration equipment.
Among the parent materials it covers 1.4436, 1.4439, 1.4429, 1.4438, NiMo18, 1.4583 and AISI 316Cb. The deposit keeps its toughness in the cryogenic range, so the wire goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases, fed continuously under shielding gas.

Run narrow beads without wide weaving, so the weld keeps its fine grained structure. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
