What UTP 80 Ni stick electrode is used for

UTP 80 Ni is a basic coated nickel base electrode of the E Ni 2061 / ENi-1 type. The manufacturer intended it for welding and surfacing commercially pure nickel grades, low carbon nickel included, and also nickel alloys and nickel clad steels.

Materials of this kind go into pressure vessels and apparatus for the chemical and food industries and for power generation, where behaviour under corrosion and at elevated temperature counts. The welds come out smooth, with no notch at the transition into the parent metal. Work is possible in every position except vertical-down.

  • Classification EN ISO 14172: E Ni 2061 (NiTi3)
  • AWS classification A5.11 / SFA-5.11: ENi-1
  • Coating: basic
  • Current: DC+
  • Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 mm
  • Lengths: 300 and 350 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (nr 00190)

Pure nickel is very sensitive to sulfur and lead, so before welding degrease the groove and remove paint and marker residue. The pool does not flow by itself, so you shape the bead by guiding the electrode, with a short arc and a low current. In the food industry smooth and pickle the weld face, so that the surface can be washed down. On nickel clad plate lay the cap layer at the end, after cleaning the weld in the backing steel.
