UTP A 34 N is a TIG rod in a copper alloy of the Cu 6338 type, for welding and braze welding copper and bronzes. It works on water installations, machine parts, plain bearings and hardfacing on bronze surfaces.
You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld. The rod also suits cladding runs on steel, it is used in shipbuilding and vessel repair, and its deposit is copper based.
- Classification EN ISO: 24373 S Cu 6338 (CuMn13Al8Fe3Ni2)
- AWS classification: A5.7 ER CuMnNiAl
- Diameters: 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Ventilate the workstation, copper alloys give off fumes that need extraction. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
