UTP A 387 is a TIG rod in a copper alloy of the Cu 7158 type, for welding and braze welding copper and bronzes. It goes into casting repairs, industrial fittings and cladding on working surfaces.
The rod suits root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face. It reaches offshore structures where the joint works in seawater and shipbuilding and repair yards, and its deposit is copper based.
- Classification EN ISO: 24373 S Cu 7158 (CuNi30Mn1FeTi)
- AWS classification: A5.7 ER CuNi
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (01625), DNV
Do not overheat the pool and work at a steady pace, tin bronzes lose alloying elements by evaporation. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
