UTP A 34 is a TIG rod in a copper alloy of the Cu 6100 type, for welding and braze welding copper and bronzes. It works on water installations, machine parts, plain bearings and hardfacing on bronze surfaces.
The rod suits root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face, and it also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces. Its deposit is copper based, and TIG gives you full control over the heat input.
- Classification EN ISO: 24373 S Cu 6100 (CuAl7)
- AWS classification: A5.7 ER CuAl-A 1
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Ventilate the workstation, copper alloys give off fumes that need extraction. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
