UTP A 381 is a TIG rod in a copper alloy of the Cu 1898 type, for welding and braze welding copper and bronzes. It works on fittings, heat exchangers, bearing shells, slide surfaces and the repair of bronze parts.
You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld. The rod handles pipeline welding including fill passes, its deposit is copper based, and it goes into casting repairs and industrial fittings.
- Classification EN ISO: 24373 S Cu 1898 (CuSn1)
- AWS classification: A5.7 ER Cu
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Ventilate the workstation, copper alloys give off fumes that need extraction. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
