UTP A 6170 Co is a solid wire in a NiCrCo alloy for high temperature applications up to 1100 degrees C. It goes into tanks and pipework made of nickel alloys, and into cladding layers on steel.
The wire runs under shielding gas, fed continuously from the torch of a semi-automatic set, and it handles mechanised stations as well. It is used on chemical process equipment, high temperature installations and mixed joints between nickel alloys and steels.

Keep the interpass temperature low and limit weaving, nickel is prone to hot cracking. Set the gas flow so the pool stays covered along the whole bead, and screen the workstation when you weld outdoors. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets wire feeding and leads to burnback. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
