UTP A 6170 Co is a TIG rod in a NiCrCo alloy for high temperature applications up to 1100 degrees C. It works on boiler components, furnace parts, chemical installations and heat exchangers exposed to aggressive media.
Base materials are 1.4958, UNS N08810, 1.4959, UNS N08811, NiCr23Co12Mo and UNS N06617. You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld.

Move the pool more slowly than on steel, nickel alloys are sluggish and will not flow to the groove edges on their own. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
