UTP A 759 is a TIG rod in a nickel alloy for corrosion resistant NiCrMo alloys of the 59 type. It is used on chemical process equipment, high temperature installations and mixed joints between nickel alloys and steels.
The rod suits root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face. It also suits cladding runs, that is protective layers built up on steel.
- Classification EN ISO: 18274 S Ni 6059 (NiCr23Mo16)
- AWS classification: A5.14 ERNiCrMo-13
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (20077), DNV
Move the pool more slowly than on steel, nickel alloys are sluggish and will not flow to the groove edges on their own. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
