UTP AF 6222 MoPW is a rutile flux-cored wire for welding nickel alloys. It is used on tanks and piping in nickel alloys, and for cladding steel surfaces.
The slag covers the bead and cools slowly, so the face stays even and the transitions to the parent metal are smooth. The rutile core gives a fast freezing pool, a well shaped face and slag that lifts easily, and it keeps the arc calm in constrained positions.
- Classification EN ISO: T Ni 6625 P M 2
- AWS classification: ENiCrMo3T1-4
- Diameters: 1.2 mm
Degrease the joint before welding, sulphur and lead compounds left after machining lead to hot cracking in nickel. Do not shorten the stick-out too far, a flux-cored wire needs resistive preheating so the core melts in time. Hold the torch tilted slightly backwards so the slag flows behind the pool. Keep the interpass temperature low and limit weaving, nickel is sensitive to hot cracking.
