WEARtig Tool 60 is a TIG rod for the production and repair of tools in molybdenum alloyed high speed steel, with a high weld metal hardness of 60 to 64 HRC.
TIG gives you full control over the heat input and a clean, smooth deposit that needs little dressing. The rod rebuilds shafts, rollers, screws, blades and surfaces working under abrasion. Previously sold as UTP A 696.

Lay the overlay in overlapping beads and watch the part temperature, an overheated component will distort and crack where the layers meet. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Expect a network of shrinkage cracks in hard overlays, on working deposits this is normal, but it must not reach into the parent material.
