WEARtig XD NiW60 is a TIG rod for GTAW or oxy-fuel welding, with tungsten carbides in a nickel matrix and excellent resistance to friction wear by hard, abrasive materials. The matrix hardness is 55 HRC and the carbide hardness 2500 HV.
You feed the filler into the pool by hand while the arc burns between the tungsten electrode and the weld. The rod reaches offshore structures where the joint works in seawater, and it rebuilds shafts, rollers, screws and blades with a smooth face. Previously sold as UTP A 7550.
- Classification EN ISO: 14700 C Ni 20
- Shielding gas: I1
Remove the fatigued and hardened surface layer before you build up, a deposit laid on worn material will flake off. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance.
