3Dprint AM 316L is an austenitic stainless solid wire for WAAM additive manufacturing.
It suits hand work with a semiautomatic torch and mechanised stations, fed continuously under shielding gas, and the deposit has an austenitic structure. Typical work covers process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
- AWS classification: AISi 316L - X2CrNiMo17-12-2 - 1.4404
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 / 2.5 / 5.9 mm
Use brushes and discs kept only for stainless steel, carbon steel particles cause rust staining on the face. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. After welding remove the heat tint by pickling or brushing, the oxide layer alone lowers the corrosion resistance of the joint.
