Avesta P12 is a TIG rod for welding nickel alloys. It goes into tanks and pipework made of nickel alloys, and into cladding layers on steel.
The rod suits grades such as 1.4547 and 1.4529. It covers root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face, and it works on boiler parts, furnaces and heat exchangers exposed to aggressive media.
- Classification EN ISO: S Ni 6625 (NiCr22Mo9Nb)
- AWS classification: ERNiCrMo-3
- Diameters: 1.2 / 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Keep the interpass temperature low and limit weaving, nickel is prone to hot cracking. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
