BÖHLER NiBAS 625-IG is a TIG rod for welding nickel alloys. It works on boiler components, furnace parts, chemical installations and heat exchangers exposed to aggressive media.
The rod suits root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face. Its deposit keeps its impact toughness down to cryogenic temperatures, so it reaches tanks for liquefied gases, and it is used on boilers and pressure vessels under statutory inspection.
- Classification EN ISO: S Ni 6625 (NiCr22Mo9Nb)
- AWS classification: ERNiCrMo-3
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 mm
Keep the interpass temperature low and limit weaving, nickel is prone to hot cracking. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
