Thermanit Nicro 82 is a TIG rod in a nickel chromium alloy of the NiCr-3 type. It goes into tanks and pipework made of nickel alloys, and into cladding layers on steel.
The rod joins grades such as 1.4583, 1.4539, NiCr15Fe, 1.4876, X8Ni9, 10CrMo9-10 and 600L, along with related materials. It suits root runs, thin walls and welds that need a smooth face.

Move the pool more slowly than on steel, nickel alloys are sluggish and will not flow to the groove edges on their own. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop.
