Thermanit 30/40 E is a nickel alloy TIG rod for joining and surfacing fully austenitic steels such as X1NiCrMoCu31-27-4, and for dissimilar welding to unalloyed and low-alloy steels.
Base materials are 1.4465, 1.4563, 1.4577 and NiCr21Mo. The rod also suits cladding runs on steel, and TIG gives you full control over the heat input and a clean, smooth weld.
- Classification EN ISO: 18274 S Ni 8025 (NiFe30Cr29Mo)
- AWS classification: A5.14 / SFA-5.14 ER383 (mod.)
- Diameters: 1.0 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (00118)
Move the pool more slowly than on steel, nickel alloys are sluggish and will not flow to the groove edges on their own. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones suit filling.
