Thermanit NiMo C 24 is a TIG rod for welding nickel alloys. It works on boiler components, furnace parts, chemical installations and heat exchangers exposed to aggressive media.
The rod joins grades such as 1.4565, UNS S34565, UNS N06022, NiCr21Mo14W, NiCr23Mo16Al, UNS N06455 and NiMo16Cr16Ti, along with related materials. It also serves for cladding carbon steel surfaces and covers tanks and pipework in nickel alloys.
- Classification EN ISO: S Ni 6059 (NiCr23Mo16)
- AWS classification: ERNiCrMo-13
- Diameters: 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm
Degrease the joint before welding, because sulphur and lead residues left after machining cause hot cracking in nickel. Grind the tungsten tip along its axis and hold a short arc, otherwise the pool spreads. Protect the root when you weld from one side, an oxidised underside spoils the corrosion resistance. Match the diameter to the material thickness and the welding position, thinner rods are easier to control out of position.
