What BÖHLER CM 2-IG solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

BÖHLER CM 2-IG is a low-alloyed, creep resistant solid wire. It suits welding CrMo steels on boilers, steam lines, refinery plant and parts working at elevated temperature.

It joins grades such as 1.7380, 10CrMo9-10, 1.7276, 1.7281, 16CrMo9-3, 1.7383 and 11CrMo9-10 together with their equivalents, and the deposit stands up to creep at elevated temperature.

Plan the preheating and the post weld heat treatment to the WPS for the grade in hand, CrMo steels harden in the heat affected zone. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind.
