What BÖHLER CM 9-IG solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

BÖHLER CM 9-IG is a low-alloyed, creep resistant solid wire. It suits welding CrMo steels in boiler, pressure vessel and petrochemical plant construction.

Typical parent materials are 1.7386, X12CrMo9-1, 1.7388, X7CrMo9-1, 1.7389 and ASTM A217. The deposit stands up to creep at elevated temperature, and the wire works in power generation, on superheaters, headers and pressure piping.

  • Classification EN ISO: 21952-A G CrMo9Si
  • AWS classification: A5.28 / SFA-5.28 ER80S-B8
  • Shielding gas: M21

Plan the preheating and the post weld heat treatment to the WPS for the grade in hand, CrMo steels harden in the heat affected zone. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc.
