BÖHLER EAS 4 M-IG (Si) is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
It joins grades such as 1.4401, 1.4404, 1.4435, 1.4436, 1.4571, 1.4580 and 1.4583 together with their equivalents. The deposit keeps its toughness in the cryogenic range, so it goes on tanks and plant for liquefied gases, and it resists intergranular corrosion.

Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
