What BÖHLER EMK 6 solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

BÖHLER EMK 6 is a solid wire for mild steel of the G3 Si 1 type. It suits welding mild and low-alloy steels on steel structures, tanks, machine frames and workshop work on black steel.

It joins grades such as S235JR, S355JR, S235J0, S355J0, S235J2, S355J2 and S275N together with their equivalents. The copper coated surface improves current transfer in the tip and the feeding, and the wire runs well on robot and mechanised stations.

  • Classification EN ISO: 14341-A G 42 4 M21 3Si1 G 42 4 C1 3Si1
  • AWS classification: A5.18 ER70S-6
  • Shielding gas: M2, M32, C1
  • Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (03036), DB (42.132.80), ABS, DNV, LR, CE

On thicker parts and in a cold workshop plan preheating to cut the risk of cold cracking. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind.
