BÖHLER FA-IG is a solid MIG/MAG electrode wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It works on pressure vessels, process piping and austenitic structures where corrosion resistance counts.
It joins grades such as 1.4821, 1.4823, 1.4713, 1.4724, 1.4742, 1.4762 and 1.4710 together with their equivalents, fed continuously from the feeder and welded under shielding gas.
- Classification EN ISO: G 25 4
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
Keep the heat input down and do not hold the joint hot longer than needed, austenite expands strongly and pulls the structure out of shape. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
