BÖHLER FFB-IG is a solid MIG/MAG electrode wire for welding stainless and acid-resistant steels. It is used on process plant, heat exchangers, sanitary structures and parts exposed to corrosion.
It joins grades such as 1.4841, 1.4845, X8CrNi25-21, 1.4828, 1.4840, 1.4846 and X40CrNi25-21 together with their equivalents. The deposit keeps its toughness in the cryogenic range, and the wire goes on boilers and pressure vessels under technical inspection.
- Classification EN ISO: G 25 20 Mn
- AWS classification: ER310 (mod.)
- Diameters: 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.2 mm
Keep the interpass temperature low and the beads narrow, overheating austenitic steel promotes carbide precipitation and distortion. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Match the diameter to the thickness and the position, thinner wires are easier to control in constrained positions.
