BÖHLER FOX CEL 75 is a cellulosic coated electrode of the E7010-P1 type for vertical-down welding of large diameter pipelines. The manufacturer recommends it for the hot pass, filling and capping. The electrode is qualified for sour gas service after the HIC test to NACE TM-02-84, and SSC test results are available as well.
The base materials are L290MB to L415MB, P235T2 to P355T2 as well as S235JR, S275JR, S235J2 and S275J2. The penetrating arc and the small amount of slag give control over the bead even at high currents, so the electrode keeps up with a fast working crew. The deposit has high impact energy and welding goes smoothly even in poor weather.

Hold the electrode at a small angle to the direction of travel and keep the speed constant, because a thin cellulosic slag can run ahead of the pool as soon as you slow down. A high current does no harm as long as you raise the travel speed with it. Rain and wind spoil the weld, so shelter the position with a tent and dry the pipe before striking. On heavier walls set the preheat to the WPS and measure the temperature before every pass.
