BÖHLER Q E 7018-1 is a basic coated electrode of the E7018-1 H4 type for high quality welds in steel structures, boilers, tanks, vehicles, ships and machinery. The manufacturer also recommends it for buffer layers when surfacing steels with a high carbon content. The metal recovery exceeds 110 percent.
The base material covers S235JR to S355JR, S235JO to S355JO and S235J2 to S355J2, and further the fine grained steels S275N to S420N, S275M to S420M and S275ML to S420ML. The deposit has high strength and good impact energy, and the electrode also tolerates steels of poorer cleanliness and raised carbon. You work with it in all positions except vertical-down. Production covers diameters up to 6.0 mm, so heavy welds fill faster.
- Classification EN ISO 2560-A: E 42 5 B 4 2 H5
- AWS classification A5.1 / SFA-5.1: E7018-1 H4
- Coating: basic
- Current: DC+
- Diameters: 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 / 5.0 / 6.0 mm
- Lengths: 300, 350 and 450 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (12451), DB (10.014.100), DNV, CE
Take the 6.0 mm diameter only for the flat position and check whether your power source will stand that current over a longer run. Bake the electrodes to the instructions of the manufacturer and carry them in a portable quiver when the weld has to meet hydrogen requirements. Strike inside the groove and fill the crater at the end of a bead by drawing the electrode back for a moment before you break the arc. On heavy parts spread the heat over several layers and watch the interpass temperature.
