What BÖHLER FOX CN 19/9 M stick electrode is used for

BÖHLER FOX CN 19/9 M is a rutile coated, core wire alloyed electrode of the E 20 10 3 R / E308Mo-17 type, designed for dissimilar joints and weld cladding. The service temperature range is minus 80 to 300 degrees C.

Compared with an E309LMo deposit, the electrode has a lower chromium and ferrite content, so that carbon diffusion and chromium carbide formation are reduced after post weld heat treatment and lower ferrite contents can be reached in the second layer of a 316L surfacing. Welding runs in all positions except vertical down, and also on alternating current. The electrode carries TÜV, DB, ABS, DNV and LR approvals.

  • Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E 20 10 3 R 3 2
  • AWS classification A5.4 / SFA-5.4: E308Mo-17 (mod.)
  • Coating: rutile
  • Current: AC/DC+
  • Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 / 5.0 mm
  • Lengths: 250, 350 and 450 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (01086), DB (30.014.03), ABS, DNV, LR, CE

In a two layer 316L cladding on carbon steel this electrode is the first layer, chosen so that the second comes out with the right ferrite, so do not swap it for a plain 309L without checking the procedure. Control the dilution: current in the lower part of the range, a short arc and a flat, spread out bead. Take the tint off with a stainless steel brush before you lay the second layer.
