BÖHLER FOX SKWAM is a basic coated, cored wire alloyed electrode of the E Z 17 Mo B type. The manufacturer uses it mainly for surfacing the sealing faces of gas, water and steam valves, where a stainless, wear resistant overlay is needed.
The base materials are 1.4122 (X39CrMo17-1), 1.4113 (X6CrMo17-1) and 1.4513 (X2CrMoTi17-1). The molybdenum addition keeps the hardness of the deposit constant up to 500 degrees C, and scaling resistance reaches 900 degrees C. The hydrogen content of the deposit stays below 5 ml per 100 g. Joints in stainless and heat resistant chromium steels of similar composition polish very well, and the electrode welds in all positions except vertical-down. It carries the KTA 1408.1 and DB approvals.

Molybdenum is what sets this electrode apart from FOX SKWA and decides how the valve disc behaves at higher temperature, so choose it where the fittings run on steam. At least two layers must remain after machining. Preheat the part and temper it after welding according to the substrate. Dry the electrodes to the data sheet and take them from a quiver.
