What BÖHLER FOX CN 24/13 Nb stick electrode is used for

BÖHLER FOX CN 24/13 Nb is a basic coated electrode of the E 23 12 Nb B / E309Nb-15 type with controlled alloying elements that meet the metallurgical requirements of buffer layers. The increased niobium content compensates dilution with carbon from the carbon steel base.

The base materials are 1.8905 (P460N), 1.5415 (16Mo3) and 1.7335 (13CrMo4-5). The electrode has a stable arc and slag that detaches well without residues. A buffer layer is normally combined with another corrosion resistant surfacing, and depending on the base material a post weld heat treatment is added. The service temperature reaches 400 degrees C.

  • Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E 23 12 Nb B 2 2
  • AWS classification A5.4 / SFA-5.4: E309Nb-15
  • Coating: basic
  • Current: DC+
  • Diameters: 3.2 / 4.0 mm
  • Lengths: 350 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (00141), CE

Niobium ties up carbon, so this grade makes sense where the base is carbon or low-alloy steel and you plan stress relieving after cladding. Run the beads flat with a slight overlap, so that the buffer layer is continuous. Dry the electrodes to the maker data sheet. Before the working layer check that no parent metal shows through anywhere.
