BÖHLER FOX EAS 2-A is a rutile coated, core wire alloyed electrode of the E 19 9 L R / E308L-17 type, used above all for the 1.4306 / 304L and 304LN steel grades. The maximum service temperature of the joint is 350 degrees C.
The base materials are 1.4301 (X5CrNi18-10), 1.4306 (X2CrNi19-11) and 1.4307 (X2CrNi18-9). The electrode handles easily on alternating and direct current, it has a high current carrying capacity with minimum spatter, the slag releases itself and the bead comes out smooth and clean. The approvals cover TÜV, DB, ABS, DNV and CWB, and the choice of sizes runs from 2.0 to 5.0 mm and from 250 to 450 mm.
- Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E 19 9 L R 3 2
- AWS classification A5.4 / SFA-5.4: E308L-17
- Coating: rutile
- Current: AC/DC+
- Diameters: 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 / 5.0 mm
- Lengths: 250, 300, 350 and 450 mm
- Approvals: TÜV (01095), DB (30.014.15), ABS, DNV, CWB, CE
This is the basic workshop electrode for 18/8 steel, so match the diameter to the job: 2.0 mm for thin sheet and root runs, 4.0 and 5.0 mm for filling in the flat position. The high current capacity is tempting, but overheated 304L loses its corrosion resistance, so stay in the lower part of the range. After welding take the tint off with a stainless steel brush, and pickle and passivate the joint if it works in corrosion.
