What BÖHLER FOX EASN 25M-A stick electrode is used for

BÖHLER FOX EASN 25M-A is a low carbon rutile coated electrode of the E 25 22 2 N L R / E310Mo-16 type with controlled molybdenum and nitrogen alloying and a high nickel content, which gives the deposit a fully austenitic structure with under 0.5 percent ferrite. The manufacturer intended it for urea plant components exposed to extremely severe corrosion at high pressure and temperature.

The base grades are 1.4435 (X2CrNiMo18-14-3), 1.4465 (X1CrNiMoN22-25-3) and 1.4466 (X2CrNiMoN25-22-2). The deposit is highly resistant to boiling concentrated nitric acid, best between 60 and 80 percent HNO3, and the corrosion rate in the Huey test is 0.08 g per square metre per hour. Alloying with chromium and molybdenum gives high resistance to chloride induced pitting, including at high concentrations and elevated temperature. Further applications are dyeing and bleaching plants, textile, pulp and paper, leather, chemical and pharmaceutical works and rayon production. The rutile coating makes it easy to handle in all positions except vertical-down.

  • Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E 25 22 2 N L R 1 2
  • AWS classification A5.4 / SFA-5.4: E310-16 (mod.)
  • Coating: rutile
  • Current: DC+
  • Diameters: 2.0 / 3.2 / 4.0 mm
  • Lengths: 350 mm
  • Approvals: CE

Fully austenitic deposits with no ferrite are sensitive to hot cracking, so limit the heat input, run narrow stringer beads and fill the craters completely. On urea plant work keep the fit-up clean: separate brushes and discs used on stainless steel only. Pickle and passivate the joint afterwards as the procedure requires.
