BÖHLER FOX EV 105 is a basic coated electrode with a NiCrMo deposit, of the E12018-G type, for high strength steels with a yield strength of the order of 890 MPa. The manufacturer names bridge building, steel structures and cranes.
The base materials are S890Q and S890QL. The diffusible hydrogen in the deposit stays below 5 ml per 100 g and the weld metal is insensitive to cold cracking, which at this strength class matters more than anything. The electrode runs on DC with the positive pole on the holder, in all positions allowed for class B 4 2.

Quenched and tempered steel with a yield of 890 MPa does not forgive thermal mistakes: keep to the preheat and interpass temperatures in the procedure and do not exceed the upper heat input limit, or you lose the strength of the joint. Bake the electrodes before every shift and carry them in a portable quiver. Strike inside the groove only, and grind out accidental arc strikes on the material and check them with a dye penetrant test. After welding let the joint cool slowly, shielded from draughts.
