BÖHLER FOX EV 60 is a nickel alloyed basic coated electrode of the E8018-C3 H4R type, with very good mechanical properties, high toughness and crack resistance. The manufacturer intended it for higher strength fine grained structural steels, for service from -60 degrees C to plus 350 degrees C.
The electrode is used on the grades S275N to S460N and S275NL to S460NL, on S275M to S460M and S275ML to S460ML, and on P275NL1 to P460NL1 and P275NL2 to P460NL2. The impact strength stays high in the aged condition as well, and the metal recovery is about 115 percent. In every position except vertical-down the electrode handles lightly, and the moisture resistant coating keeps the diffusible hydrogen below 4 ml per 100 g of weld metal.

Service up to plus 350 degrees C means the joint may end up in a heating installation, but check in the procedure whether stress relieving is required. On fine grained steels watch both the lower and the upper heat input limit, because each of them spoils the structure of the heat affected zone. Take the electrodes out of the oven shortly before welding. Always fill the crater at the end of a bead, because that is where a crack most often starts.
