BÖHLER FOX EV 62 is a basic coated electrode with a MnNi deposit, of the E8018-G H4R type. The manufacturer directs it to fine grained structural steels, to steel structures, bridge building and gas storage tanks. The toughness of the deposit holds down to -60 degrees C.
The base materials are S355N to S500Q, P355NL1 to S500QL, P355NL2 to S500QL1 and the pipe grades L360NB to L415NB and L360MB to L485MB. The welds come out clean in radiographic testing, which on bridge and tank acceptance decides the result. Production covers diameters up to 6.0 mm, so heavy plate is filled in fewer passes.

For radiography prepare a joint with no sharp transitions, so grind every layer where a bead runs onto a bead. Dry the electrodes to the data sheet, because porosity in a basic weld comes mainly from moisture. At the 6.0 mm diameter work in the flat position and watch the interpass temperature. On heavy plate set the preheat according to thickness and grade, not by guesswork.
