What BÖHLER FOX EV 65 stick electrode is used for

BÖHLER FOX EV 65 is a basic coated electrode of the E8018-D1 H4R type with high ductility and crack resistance, intended for high strength fine grained steels. The deposit stays ductile down to -60 degrees C and is resistant to ageing. The material is qualified for sour gas service after the HIC test to NACE TM-02-84, with SSC test values available.

The base grades are S460Q to S550Q, S460QL to S550QL, S460QL1 to S550QL1, the pipe grades L415MB to L555MB and L415QB to L555QB, and S460N. The material can be guided in any position, the exception being vertical-down. The diffusible hydrogen falls below 4 ml per 100 g with a moisture resistant coating.

Quenched and tempered steel takes cooling that is too slow as badly as cooling that is too fast, so keep inside the temperature window in the procedure. In sour gas installations the weld hardness is often limited, so check the requirement of the client before you plan the layers. Bake the coating before work and put part used electrodes back in the quiver. On a very rigid joint consider a temper bead technique and controlled cooling.
