BÖHLER FOX Red R 160 is a high performance rutile coated electrode of the E7024-1 type with a weld metal recovery of 160 percent. The manufacturer recommends it for thin fillet welds, where a fast working pace is needed together with an even bead.
With this electrode you weld the steels S235JRG2 to S355J2 and the boiler grades P235GH, P265GH, P295GH, P355GH and P355N. There is little spatter, the slag detaches by itself and the weld has a fine ripple. Striking and re-striking are easy, which shortens the working time on short runs.

For a thin fillet choose the smaller diameter and reduce the current, otherwise you will burn the edge of the sheet with a recovery this high. Drag the electrode in a straight motion, without weaving, with the coating resting in the corner. Working vertically is out of the question if you want to use the recovery, so set the part up for the flat position. Change the stub before the coating starts to scorch at the end, because that is when the spatter increases.
