What BÖHLER NiMo 1-IG solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

BÖHLER NiMo 1-IG is a low-alloyed, high-strength solid wire. It suits welding quenched and tempered high-strength steels on working machines, booms, cranes and structures that need a high yield strength.

Among the parent materials it covers S460N, S460M, S460NL, S460ML, S460Q, S555Q and S460QL. The wire does well on pipe welding, fill passes included, and on boilers and pressure vessels under technical inspection.

Keep the heat input inside the range given by the steel maker, going beyond it lowers the strength of the joint. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Check the contact tip, a worn bore upsets the wire feed and causes burnback.
