BÖHLER X 90-IG is a solid MIG/MAG wire for welding creep-resistant CrMo steels. It is used on boilers, steam lines, refinery plant and parts working at elevated temperature.
The typical parent material is ASTM A 70. The copper coated surface improves current transfer in the tip and the feeding, and the wire suits hand work with a semiautomatic torch and mechanised stations.
- Classification EN ISO: G 89 6 M21 Mn4Ni2CrMo
- AWS classification: ER120S-G
- Diameters: 1.0 / 1.2 mm
Watch the hydrogen level, dry consumables and a preheated groove are the basic protection against cold cracking. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion. Set the gas flow so the pool is covered over the whole length of the bead, and shield the station when you work in wind. Thinner diameters suit root runs and thin sheet, thicker ones the fill passes.
