What Pipeshield X 70 solid MIG/MAG wire is used for

Pipeshield X 70 is a solid wire for mild steel. It suits welding mild and low-alloy steels, fine-grained grades included, on steel structures, tanks, machine frames and workshop work.

Parent materials are API 5L, L245MB, L485MB, L245NB and L415NB. All welding positions are open to it, which helps on site, and the wire does well on root runs.

On thicker parts and in a cold workshop plan preheating to cut the risk of cold cracking. Match the drive rolls to the wire diameter and check the liner, wire slip shows up at once in an unstable arc. Watch the wire stick-out from the contact tip, too long a one lowers the arc voltage and worsens the fusion.
