What Thermanit 19/15 H stick electrode is used for

Thermanit 19/15 H is a basic coated electrode with a non-magnetic deposit, of the E 20 16 3 Mn N L B / E316LMn-15 type. The manufacturer directs it to the corrosion conditions of urea synthesis plants and to joining and surfacing on matching austenitic CrNi(N) and CrNiMo(Mn,N) steels, cast grades included.

The base materials are 1.3941 (X4CrNi18-3), 1.3945 (X2CrNiN18-13) and 1.3948 (X4CrNiMnMoN19-13-8). The corrosion resistance matches that of low carbon CrNiMo(Mn,N) steels, the deposit is seawater resistant and stands up well to nitric acid. In the Huey test to ASTM A 262 the loss stays under 3.3 micrometres per 48 hours, with selective attack up to 200 micrometres. The deposit is austenitic with up to 0.6 percent ferrite and the maximum service temperature is 350 degrees C.

  • Lengths: 350 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (01813), DB (30.138.08), CE

A non-magnetic deposit makes sense where the structure must not disturb a field, so make sure no ferromagnetic material from the substrate or from your tools is fused into the weld. A fully austenitic structure with no ferrite calls for low heat input: narrow stringer beads, low interpass temperature, craters filled. Prepare the basic coating by drying it to the instructions of the manufacturer.
