Union AlMg 4,5 MnZr is a TIG rod for welding aluminium and its alloys. It is used in transport, in the food industry and in structures that have to resist atmospheric corrosion.
TIG gives you full control over the heat input and a clean, smooth weld, so the rod suits root runs, thin walls and beads that have to look tidy without dressing.
- Classification EN ISO: 18273 S Al 5087 (AlMg4.5MnZr(A))
- AWS classification: A5.10 / SFA-5.10 ER5087
- Shielding gas: I1, I3
- Approvals: DB (61.132.04), CE
Remove the oxide layer with a stainless steel brush right before welding, aluminium oxide melts far higher than the metal itself. Keep the rod inside the gas shield even after you lift it from the pool, a cold oxidised end will contaminate the next drop. Set the gas post-flow long enough for the pool and the electrode to cool under the shield. Push the torch and keep the wire path in the feeder short and straight, aluminium coils up easily in the liner.
