What UTP 1925 stick electrode is used for

UTP 1925 is a rutile-basic coated stick electrode of the E 20 25 5 Cu N L R / E385-16 type for joining and surfacing on stainless steels and cast iron with increased corrosion resistance to reducing media. The deposit is rustproof and resistant to intergranular corrosion, and in wet corrosion it works up to 350 degrees C.

The base materials are the grades 1.4500, 1.4505, 1.4506 and 1.4539. The corrosion properties in reducing media correspond to steels of the same type. The electrode runs on AC and on DC with the electrode positive, and the available diameters from 2.0 to 3.2 mm point it at thinner components and repair work.

  • Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E 20 25 5 Cu N L R 3 2
  • AWS classification A5.4 / SFA-5.4: E385-16 (mod.)
  • Coating: rutile
  • Current: AC/DC+
  • Diameters: 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.2 mm
  • Lengths: 300 and 350 mm
  • Approvals: TÜV (04186.)

When surfacing cast iron, keep the heat down: short runs a few centimetres long, pauses for cooling and peening of the hot deposit with a hammer to take out the shrinkage stresses. Clean the surface of graphite and oil residue, otherwise you will get porosity. A fully austenitic deposit with no ferrite needs low heat input and craters filled right to the end.
