UTP 2535 Nb is a basic coated stick electrode of the E Z 25 35 Nb B type for joining and surfacing heat resistant CrNi cast steels of similar composition, centrifugally cast and mould cast, such as 1.4848 (GX40CrNiSi25-20), 1.4852 (GX40NiCrSiNb35-26) and 1.4857 (GX40NiCrSi35-26).
The manufacturer states service up to 1150 degrees C in carburizing combustion gas with a low sulfur content, for example in reformer furnaces in petrochemical plants. The electrode runs on DC with the electrode positive, and the choice of diameters from 2.5 to 5.0 mm covers thin tubes and heavy walled castings alike.
- Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E Z 25 35 Nb B 6 2
- Coating: basic
- Current: DC+
- Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 / 5.0 mm
- Lengths: 300, 350 and 400 mm
Heat resistant cast steels are carburized after years in service and crack when welded, so cut the tired material back to sound section and check the edges with a dye penetrant test. Lay narrow beads without weaving and keep the interpass temperature low. Dry the electrodes to the data sheet, hydrogen in such a joint causes cracks the moment it cools.
