UTP 82 Ko is a carbon electrode for gouging and cutting all metals that melt in the arc: steels and cast steels, cast iron and aluminium, nickel and copper alloys. The manufacturer stresses the high working rate and the universal range of use.
The carbon core does not melt like a metal one, it only sustains the arc that melts the material out of the groove. The electrode comes in a single diameter of 5.0 mm and a length of 305 mm, and it works on DC with the electrode positive.
- Application: gouging and cutting
- Type: carbon electrode
- Current: DC+
- Diameters: 5.0 mm
- Lengths: 305 mm
Before work check in the data sheet of the manufacturer whether the groove is to be blown clear with compressed air, and match the holder to the method you use. Set the current according to the thickness of the material and guide the electrode evenly, without digging the tip in. After gouging remove the carburized layer with a grinder, because surplus carbon in the groove spoils the later weld. Screen the workstation, because the stream of hot metal carries several metres.
