UTP 3545 Nb is a nickel base basic coated stick electrode of the E Ni Z 6701 (NiCr35Fe15Nb0.8) type to EN ISO 14172, for joining and surfacing high heat resistant cast alloys of similar composition such as G-X45NiCrNbSiTi45 35, centrifugally cast and mould cast.
The main field of work is tubes and cast parts of reformer and pyrolysis furnaces. The manufacturer states that the deposit works in a carburizing atmosphere of low sulfur content up to 1175 degrees C. The electrode runs on DC with the electrode positive.
- Classification EN ISO 14172: E Ni Z 6701 (NiCr35Fe15Nb0.8)
- Coating: basic
- Current: DC+
- Diameters: 2.5 / 3.2 / 4.0 mm
- Lengths: 300 and 350 mm
Reformer tubes are carburized and brittle after service, so remove the altered layer before welding and dye penetrant test the edges. A nickel deposit is thick and not very fluid: open the preparation wider, hold a short arc and weave only enough to wet the side wall. The interpass temperature has to stay low and the craters have to be filled right to the end.
